I took this picture for a class. The other people in my lab group didn't know where to go and I suggested this spot. I suppose I could say that this was where my college friends and I hung out and did college things like play frisbee and discuss philosophy and protest stuff and laugh, but that wouldst be a total lie. We sat in the living room of our crappy apartment and ate quesadillas. And discussed internet phenomena that will not even be remotely funny next month. Oh well, time to be done with that crap. ;-) [wink]
I just registered for classes for the last time ever. Pretty amazing.
What do you feel when you read over old archives of your blog/journal? Are you embarassed by your obvious lack of knowledge? Do you wish you could go in the past and educate yourself with information you now know? Do you wish you could go into the future and see what is going to happen? I wish I could use my future hindsight right now so I could see why what is happening is happening.
The rainy season has started. California doesn't have distinct seasons, really. It just gets warmer in the summer and rainier in the winter. Today it was finally full-on raining, so i pulled out my dependable Pro-Keds. They arent the most comfortable shoes, but they cost less than $10 from the Atascadero Ross store, where I always find a cool pair of shoes [nearly every time i go there!]. The good thing about these CalPoly-colored sneakers is that they are entirely made of rubber with a thin cloth lining on the inside. Totally waterproof. The apex of hip. Functional and fine. Shoes dont get much better than these.
For a while, I had a Motorola V400 cameraphone. It didnt take great pictures, but was spiffy and had Prince of Persia and Bejeweled as [java] games and I had a usb cable to connect it to my computer to put mp3s as ringtones. After about a year, the earpiece on my phone got progressively quieter, to the point that i could not hear conversations.
My dad had recently updated his phone to a Motorola RAZR and he gave me his V400. Promptly, the buttons on the side [among them, the volume control] stopped working. The phone's most recent development was the refusal to answer calls. The phone would ring and i would open it and it would keep ringing, refusing to pick up.
Now i have finally downgraded to something which works, no problems at all: my sister's old Nokia 3395. It may have a black & white lcd with the typical green backlight. It might not have a camera. But it does have good signal, the ability to answer calls and Snake 2. Also, the case is really awesome [as seen above]. This is just another in my chain of obsolete hardware, like my game boy advance, sega dreamcast, sony playstation, and super nintendo. And i am proud of that.
Actually, the picture is my dad and a mountie. You know, i dont know why i am typing this on my laptop. I dont like typing on a laptop keyboard. The keys are in the wrong place, and i keep touching the touch pad and moving the cursor around. Anyway, i am back in the S-L-O and i survived the summer. It would also seem that i survived at least half of opening the halls w/ resnet. It would seem my neighbors are having a drunken party of some kind. And seeing as this is the first weekend of the year, i am going to go ahead an assume that this isnt going to be a one-time kind of thing. Ugh. I guess it wouldnt be so bad if i wasnt bored. I've watched all the Firefly ive rented, and none of the movies on dvd really interest me. At the same time, i dont feel like doing anything creative/constructive and we cancelled cable and i am too tired for videogames. Darn my lack of passive entertainment! Someone just howled. Well...maybe i'll go watch special features on some dvd...
